This Privacy Policy explains how the Timkiem Maps app for Android and iOS and this website (together, the "Service") handle your information. We collect as little as possible and never sell personal data.
1. Information we process
Location: only if you grant permission and use features such as My location, nearby places, weather or the risk report for your position, and widgets. Location is processed on your device; when needed, approximate coordinates are sent to our server only to fetch places, weather and hazard data. We do not keep a location history linked to you.
Search text: what you type in the search box is sent to our server and to geocoding providers to return results. It is not linked to your identity.
Saved places, drawings, flags and settings: stored only on your device. They are removed when you clear the app data or uninstall the app.
Purchases: Premium subscriptions and purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We only receive the purchase status needed to unlock Premium and never see your card or payment details.
Technical data: IP address, device model, operating system, app version and language are processed briefly by our servers and our hosting provider to deliver the Service, keep it secure and prevent abuse. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days.
Public place data: to improve search results we may store public information about places, such as business names, addresses and coordinates. This data is not linked to you.
2. Permissions
Location (optional, precise or approximate), Internet and network status. The app does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, messages or files.
3. Third-party services
The Service uses Cloudflare for hosting and security; OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, OpenFreeMap, Esri and CARTO for maps and addresses; USGS for earthquakes; GDACS for disaster alerts; NASA EONET and GIBS for natural events, fires and rainfall; Open-Meteo for weather, air quality and river flow; and Google Play Billing or Apple StoreKit for purchases. Premium users may also choose Google or Mapbox base maps.
When your device loads map tiles or data directly from these providers, they receive your IP address and the requested map area under their own privacy policies.
The optional Meet nearby feature opens pages on timkiem.top, which require a separate sign-in and are governed by the timkiem.top privacy policy.
4. Cookies on this website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It stores only your language choice in a cookie named lang.
5. Data retention
Server logs are deleted after at most 30 days. Cached disaster and weather data are public data. Data on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU GDPR, US state laws such as the CCPA, and Vietnamese personal data protection law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. You can turn off location permission at any time in your device settings. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area. The Meet nearby feature is only for adults aged 18 and over. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
All connections use HTTPS encryption. We limit the data we process and restrict access to it. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Safety notice
Disaster and weather information is aggregated from public sources and may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. It does not replace official warnings. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and important changes will be announced in the app.
11. Contact
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, please contact us:
